As an elected official, the DuPage County Coroner, is accountable to the citizens of DuPage County. The coroner should be a visible figure in the community and be a resource to those seeking information.
The coroner is responsible for maintaining a professional agency and ensuring all employees are properly equipped and trained to perform their assigned duties. Members of the coroner’s office are to conduct death investigations in a professional, unbiased and courteous manner while maintaining the highest level of compassion, dignity and respect of the deceased and their families during some of the most unsettling times of their lives.
Death investigations conducted by the coroner’s office shall be independent investigations that draw conclusions free of outside influences. It is imperative the coroner’s findings, as it relates to the cause and manner of death, are strictly based upon forensic pathology, evidence and investigative findings. The results of all investigations must be free of all bias, stereotyping and/or political influence.
Ensuring the integrity and credibility of the coroner’s office is maintained shall be my top priority.
